UMkhanyakude salary chaos sparks council backlash
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The uMkhanyakude District Municipality has slammed the non-payment of workers’ salaries.

Council Speaker Solomon Mkhombo claims the appointed administrator Bamba Ndwandwe blocked the municipal manager from accessing the municipality’s bank account, which means staff couldn't get paid yesterday.
Mkhombo also claims that his appointment was illegal.
COGTA MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi has placed the municipality under administration again, months after the previous intervention was lifted in April.

Mkhombo said this move was done without due process.
"Everytime there is an administrator, a council take a resolution and instructs the municipal manager to initate a process of including that administrator into the municipal bank account.
"What has happened between Absa and Bamba is illegal, he's bullying us because he's an MEC. But in the constuition, we have rights," added Mkhombo.
