UKZN launches I-Care to help fund needy students
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
It's hoped that a new campaign to be launched by the University of KwaZulu-Natal will assist students who can't further their studies due to outstanding fees.
The I-Care campaign will be launched today. It's a drive that's been arranged by the university's student body.
It's an initiative for students by students. Through it, funds will be raised to assist academically deserving students so that they can pay for their studies.
Staff, management and the student body leadership are all jumping on board to ensure its success.
The initiative is similar to others run by a few other universities around the country where a finance pool is created to assist financially-needy students.
The trend seems to have come to light following the popular Fees Must Fall national campaigns.
In its statement, UKZN says it appeals to students, corporates, individuals and stakeholders to dig deep into their pockets in order to make it a success.
