The University of KwaZulu-Natal has become the second institution in the world to offer an advanced degree programme in investment promotion and economic development.
Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal and UKZN signed a memorandum of understanding today to introduce the course which is currently only offered at Scotland's Edinburgh-Napier University at Master's level.
The programme is endorsed by the Economic Development Department.
Emphasising the importance of the partnership, MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu said those who will graduate from the programme will be equipped with the necessary skills to help attract investors and therefore bolster the province’s economy.
" We do welcome this partnership because in a way it takes us back to the basics. The basics being that we should be able to produce people that are highly capacitated, that can stand their own in a world of nations," he said.
