Ukraine civil society leaders arrive in SA
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Ukraine's civil society leaders are looking to
South Africa for support in ending Russia’s war.
"We think it's important to stop the war and we think that South Africa which is very active in the international arena can do that," says a member of the delegation and academic, Professor Olexiy Haran.
A delegation has arrived in the country for a series of meetings this week.
The group says it's seeking support in stopping what it says is the arbitrary killing of civilians and the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children by Moscow.

They're due to have discussions with South African human rights organisations in Pretoria on Monday.
Haran says since the invasion early last year, the world economy has been impacted.
"A lot of economic chains are broken, including supplies of food and grain from Ukraine, which includes the grain we are exporting to Africa."
Haran says many lives are in danger.
"The world is in danger because the largest nuclear power plant in Europe,Ukraine is occupied by Russian troops. If anything happens at the power station then Chernobyl will be considered just a child to this new catastrophe."
