There's a Yellow Level 1 alert in place for damaging coastal winds between Port Edward and Cape Vidal.

It's likely to lead to the disruption of small harbours and ports for a short period, with small vessels at risk of capsizing.

There's also a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds which could lead to localised damage to settlements in the north-western interior of the province.

Some transport routes and travel services will likely be affected by wind or falling trees.

Forecaster Masego Nhlapho is advising residents to take the necessary precautions.

She says KZN can expect temperatures to drop on Friday.

" We are expecting a 30% chance of showers and rain over the eastern parts of KZN. Then temperature-wise on Friday we are expecting a drop in temperatures where it will be cold to cool over the western parts of KZN, and cool to warm over the eastern parts of KZN."
