Hawks officials in KZN say they are following up on a number of leads, and hope to make more arrests soon as they probe the death of a student constable in Kokstad.

Two suspects have been detained in connection with Mzimasi Hloba's killing.
He was stationed at the Kokstad police station.
Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says Hloba was travelling with a friend along the R56 Main Road near Ibisi on Monday when he somehow lost control of his vehicle.
"It is alleged that on Monday 13 February 2023, at about 03:00 am, Student Constable Hloba was off duty travelling along R56 Main Road, Meyi Location near Ibisi when his vehicle lost control."

"He got out of his vehicle to assess damages whilst his female friend remained in the vehicle. While busy checking the vehicle, they were accosted by five suspects who robbed them of their belongings.
"The suspects fired a shot at him and he was certified dead at the scene. The suspects fled the scene on foot. His female friend was taken to hospital for medical attention."
Mhlongo says the pair they arrested are due to line up in the Umzimkhulu Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
