The first saw a loaded taxi and a light delivery vehicle crash head-on along the M27 between uMdloti and Waterloo, north of Durban. Details leading up the collision are not clear.

Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says the two occupants who died were ejected.

"Medics assessed the scene and found two people were ejected from the delivery vehicle and the taxi while multiple people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate", he said.

"Sadly the two ejected people sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on scene", Herbst said.

In another incident 15 people sustained injuries when a taxi and two bakkies collided with a truck and trailer on the N3 in the Camperdown area, also this morning.

According to ER24 services the truck and trailer had come to stop in such a manner that the freeway was completely blocked.

It also says the taxi was carrying people who were going to take part in a running event.

Advanced Life Support paramedics intervened and all hurt were treated for various injuries and taken to different hospitals.
