ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the motorcyclist was a man believed to have been in his 40s.

He was declared dead at the scene after midnight.

"Paramedics arrived on scene to find carnage as they found that a Superbike had somehow collided into the rear of a vehicle on the fast lane causing extensive damage. Paramedics immediately triaged the scene and found that the motorcycle driver had sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing medics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.
