Two killed in Durban informal settlement blaze

Two men have lost their lives in a fire that raged through the Cato Manor informal settlement on Sunday morning.

eThekwini firefighters say six shacks situated between low-cost houses were found well alight upon arrival.
Whilst busy extinguishing the blaze, community residents told the authorities about two men that were not accounted for.
Dennis Govender says the two bodies were recovered underneath the burnt rubble.

"We were later told that these individuals were late in the evening they were highly intoxicated with alcohol.
"They also told us they were new members in the area. People never knew much about them and they don't know what was is the cause of the fire.
"We couldn't determine the cause of the fire because it was totally destructed from the fire."
