Two people have been killed in a collision involving a truck and bus in Empangeni, near Richards Bay.
Medics from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service say several others were hurt in the crash on John Ross Highway on Monday morning.
Spokesperson Craig Botha says emergency responders made their way to the B10 intersection.
"When emergency services arrived, they found that a truck and a bus had collided and subsequently left the road and gone down an embankment.
"Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and that one patient had sustained critical injuries. Nine patients had sustained serious injuries and a further five patients had sustained minor injuries.
"Sadly, there were two patients that sustained fatal injuries and had succumbed to their injuries before paramedics could arrive."
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
