Two boys drown in Duduza pond

The bodies of two boys, aged 10 and 11, were recovered from a pond in Duduza on Friday.

Spokesperson for Ekurhuleni’s emergency services, William Ntladi, said the boys were reported missing on Thursday.
"Disaster and Emergency Management Services received a possible drowning case this morning at around 08:00.
"The rescue team from the Duduza fire station swiftly responded to the call. On arrival, two sets of clothes found next to the pond were positively linked to the missing boys.

"DEMS's rescue team, together with other rescue and medical stakeholders, retrieved the two bodies from the water. The boys were declared dead at the scene by paramedics."
Ntladi confirmed that the scene had been handed over to the police for further investigation.
