Twitter ablaze as tremor felt in parts of KZN

Within minutes of a tremor shaking parts of South Africa, social media sites were abuzz with some KZN residents claiming they felt the earth move.

An earthquake in Botswana was felt as far as Johannesburg and in parts of KZN. 

The US Geological Survey says a 6.5 magnitude quake was recorded near the Kalahari game reserve - some 250 km north west of the capital, Gaborone, and at a depth of about 29km. 

KZN residents say they felt the tremor in the South Beach area while others said they could feel buildings moving. 

In Gauteng - the tremor was felt in Kempton Park, Pretoria East, Tzaneen, Zeerust and Rustenburg.

The tremor struck at around 7:30pm last night with several people posting videos of their experience on social media, saying that it lasted more than a minute.
