A planned nationwide truck strike is set to begin today but SATAWU says it has not been organised by any of the legitimate unions. Messages about the action have been circulating on social media with warnings against foreign truck drivers.

SATAWU spokesperson Zanele Sabela.

"It is our concern that when there are faceless people calling a strike what tends to happen is that truck drivers are attacked and trucks are set alight", she said.

"So we are cautioning drivers to be careful and take necessary measures because the violence has gone on for too long", Sabela said.
