Friends and former colleagues have been sharing their memories of veteran radio broadcaster Darren Scott, who passed away on Tuesday morning.

Scott lost his battle with stage four cancer at the age of 61.

His former partner, Sarah-Kate Accetta, says she and their sons have to learn how face life without him.

"I watched him, day after day, scroll through your messages in disbelief - humbled, overwhelmed, moved to tears. He couldn’t believe that so many people cared. Thank you for giving him that in his final months.

"As we make our way back home now, to not only commemorate his life, but to learn how to face life without him, I ask from the bottom of my heart: please pray for the boys.

"Their world has changed forever, and we need every bit of strength we can hold onto. I will cherish the opportunity to fill their days with laughter and love, with the many, many wild, wonderful, and unforgettable stories about their dad."

Scott marked 40 years in radio last year, having worked at stations such as Radio Bop, 5FM, Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio.

His long time friend Dave Guselli says it hurts losing his mate.

" It's a very sad day for me. I lost a close friend of 41 years. I first knew Darren at Capital 604 in 1984. We then moved to East Coast Radio and worked together. He was a passionate radio presenter, a compassionate person, loving father and husband."

East Coast Radio presenter Sirshin Moodliar worked with Scott on his afternoon show.

" I first met Darren Scott in 2009 when we worked together at East Coast Radio on the Drive Show. As a kid, I, I grew up listening to his broadcasts on various radio stations. He was such a good guy, very professional, very knowledgeable about music.”

East Coast Breakfast's Darran Maule says he left a mark in the radio community.

" His resilience and passion for broadcasting inspired many and his legacy will continue to influence this industry for years to come."

East Coast Radio daytime host Danny Guselli said Darren was one of his biggest inspirations.

"He was the first phone call I made when I was given this Daytime Show of 12 to three, because I remember listening back to him when I was younger, when he did the 12 to three show and going, ‘Wow, I want to be like this guy'. Well, he gave me the best advice. He took the time to listen."
