Transport officials probe Umhlanga single-vehicle crash

The KZN Transport Department is trying to determine what led to Saturday's horrific crash in Umhlanga in which two people burnt to death.

A car with two occupants crashed into a traffic circle at Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Douglas Saunders Road on Saturday night.
The vehicle overturned before bursting into flames. No other cars were involved.

KZN Transport's Mluleki Mntungwa says they are busy establishing what led the accident.
"The only information we received is that the driver lost control and hit the concrete barriers. That's all we can confirm at this stage. We want to urge all road users to be cautious.
"We are coming from the long weekend and people are driving back to their destinations as from today until tomorrow. We urge motorists to be cautious and patient on the roads so that we can save lives," Mntungwa said.
