Toys 'R' Us SA not affected by bankruptcy filings

It's business as usual for Toys 'R' Us - Babies R Us Southern Africa.

The company's Nicole Annells spoke to Newswatch after the retailer in the US and Canada filed for bankruptcy protection.
"Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us trading as AMIC is an independent company operating under a licensing agreement with Toys 'R' Us Inc. AMIC trading is registered in South Africa and functions entirely independently from the Toys 'R' Us global affiliate," she says.

She says Toys 'R' Us / Babies 'R' Us Southern Africa operates independently under the brand and is not affected by any of the global retailer's operations, debt management or restructuring.
Annells says the company will be opening seven new stores in the region in the next three months.
"We are so excited to be going into the festive season with over 50 stores now that we are opening an extra seven and over 60 000 square metres of retail space. We have no doubt we will have every product across all points to make Christmas shopping that much easier for our customers."
