Three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a 69-year-old man in Sweetwaters are due to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court today.
The men attacked the victim at his home on Tuesday night.
It's believed Muziwamadoda Nkala opened his door when someone knocked, pretending to be one of his drivers.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the suspects allegedly tied up Nkala's wife with cables and demanded cash and car keys before fleeing with household appliances.
"Metres, a few kilometres away - it is alleged that the same suspects hijacked another VW Polo in the area and forced the driver into the boot of his own vehicle before fleeing the scene.
"Later the driver of the Polo was found at Mountain Rise area. It is alleged that they tried to shoot at him as well but he was not harmed," he said.
