Occupying the streets of Los Angeles, Istanbul, and London to name a few cities - the fight for equality continues.

#BeBoldForChange is this year's theme - and the site which is the hub for participants worldwide - calls for the public to sign a petition on how the public will act against bias and inequality.

Earlier this year, huge women's marches took place after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump - voicing their opposition to Trump's policies and his sometimes sexist and vulgar comments about women seen on videotape during the campaign.

Two days after those marches, Trump acted on his anti-abortion stance and signed a decree banning the financing of international charities that support abortions.

Statistics also support the need for the ongoing cause to stand up for women's rights.

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), women earn on average 23% less than men worldwide.

The United Nations states  about 35% of women around the world have been victims of physical or sexual violence.

While, some 200 million women and girls have been subjected to a form of genital mutilation and 700 million have been married before the age of 18.

In October, Latin America spearheaded the movement #NiUnaMenos ("Not one less") after the brutal murder of a teenage girl who was drugged and gang raped in Argentina.
