Thousands of KZN women among those at Women's Day celebrations at Union Buildings
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Around 2 000 KZN women will be attending a national Women's Day event at the Union Buildings in Pretoria today.
The women work within non-profit organisations, business, the health sector, the community and some have been at the forefront in the provision of legal aid to the vulnerable.
Spokesperson for the Premier, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, says they will represent the province on the anniversary of one of the largest demonstrations staged in the country in 1956.
"We are saying they represent all of us. We are where we are because of women who sacrificed all that they have for a free and prosperous South Africa," Sibiya.
"We want to congratulate all women who have worked extremely hard to drive socio-economic development in the province," he said.
"We salute all the women who are looking after their families," Sibiya.
