Thousands of Durban motorists arrested for drunk driving in 2018

Durban Metro Police say the number of drunk drivers nabbed last year has skyrocketed to almost 6,000.
Spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad has released the details of a preliminary report into arrests from roadblocks across the city.
"This number if far too high," said Sewpersad.
He says 150 people have already been arrested for drunk driving so this year.
Sewpersad says officers have also picked up on other alarming trends.

"We have seen a trend of female drivers being arrested, people carrying drinks in glasses with them in the car and people trying to swap drivers before the stop-line at the roadblock."
