Council ordered a probe into allegations of financial misconduct against Lulamile Mapholoba.

The court ruled in Mapholoba's favour yesterday, declaring his suspension unlawful and illegal. He spoke to Newswatch moments after the judgment:
"I'm very happy. I feel vindicated, I'm looking forward to assuming work; do what I do best to run the municipality and I hope that I will receive the necessary cooperation from the mayor and councillor."
