Suspected wanted for Cato Manor police shooting killed

A suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder of three police officers has been killed in Durban.

It's understood he opened fire on the officers on Dunbar Road in Cato Manor on Sunday, wounding one of them.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Paul Magwaza says the man was traced to a home in Wiggins in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Magwaza says he opened fire towards the police through the window, and the police retaliated, shooting him.

"One suspect was shot and fatally wounded in a shootout with police at Cato Manor just after midnight on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. The suspect was wanted for a case of attempted murder of police officers after he fired shots at police.
"Police traced the suspect and cornered him at a residence at Wiggins in Cato Manor, and he opened fire towards the police through the window.
"Police returned fire, and during the resultant shootout, the suspect was shot and fatally wounded. He was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition."
