Suspected gang member shot and killed in Nsimbini

police have shot and killed a man linked to a gang that's said to have been
terrorising the northern KZN community of Esikhaleni.

The suspect was wanted for a string of crimes including business robbery and attempted murder.
He was allegedly involved in a hit on a business in Kwanyanda Reserve in July.
A man was stabbed before the group of five robbers fled with cash and airtime vouchers.

The police's Thenjiswa Ngcobo says they received information that the suspect was hiding in a house in an area inland from Shelly Beach.
"The suspect was traced to a house in Nsimbini area where he was hiding. On arrival at the house the suspect opened fire at police officers. The 28-year-old suspect was fatally wounded during the shooting and was declared dead on scene.”
Police found a pistol and two magazines in the house.
