Suspect nabbed for murder of KwaMsane businessman

A KZN man is spending the rest of the week in custody, after being arrested for the murder and robbery of a KwaMsane businessman, on the north coast.
It's alleged the deceased Maqumba Mlambo was in his Mfekayi homestead in early December when he was accosted by three armed men at gunpoint.
They then robbed Mlambo of his firearm and cash before shooting him and fled the scene using a getaway vehicle.
The 46-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on arrival at the hospital.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbatha says although Innocent Gumede is behind bars, more arrests are imminent.
"On 1 January 2021 at 09:00, the KwaMsane police together with Empangeni Tactical Response Team received information that the suspect was at Mchakwini area chasing and firing shots at another man.

The police proceeded to the scene, spotted the vehicle intercepted and searched it.
During the search, police discovered a 9mm pistol, rounds of ammunition and cellphones. The man who was being chased by the suspect managed to escape unharmed and a case of attempted murder was opened for investigation.
