Suspect in custody for murder of Umlazi cop

A suspected cop killer has been nabbed and remains in custody for the murder of an Umlazi policewoman.
Ntando Mkhize briefly appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday for shooting the off-duty officer in May.
Constable Portia Mhlanga died on arrival at hospital after she was allegedly shot by the suspect at the township's E-section.

The Hawks in KZN nabbed the 24-year-old last week after receiving information that he was hiding at the Glebelands Hostel.
Mkhize was charged with murder and will return to court on 30 August for a formal bail application.
