Street vendor dies after being dragged by taxi in CBD
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A street vendor has been killed after a minibus taxi ploughed into her in the Durban CBD.
It's understood the vehicle lost control near Mayden Road.
Leon Fourie from Life Response Ambulance Services says they arrived on the scene to find that the woman had already died.
"There was a lady selling food inside the taxi rank; she was seated against the wall. Allegedly, the taxi lost control, went through the wall and then drove over the pedestrian, and he dragged her approximately 100 metres. Unfortunately, she passed away prior to our arrival. All emergency services are on scene. We're urging the public just to stay clear of the area - so that the Metro police and SAP can sort out the area at the moment," he said.
