Storm tears roof off Cape Town mall
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Parts of the roof of the popular Cavendish Square mall in Cape Town has blown off amid the intense storm bashing the Western Cape.
This has led to the mall being evacuated.
A video showing the dramatic scenes was posted by a Facebook user from her office.
“I took the video from my office. I started filming after about 20 slats lifted on the roof at Cavendish. What you see in the video is one of the slats landing on a car below. There is a man lying on the floor next to the truck too. I think a slat might have hit him,” she told Jacaranda FM News.
Another Facebook user also posted a picture of a coffee shop inside the square where the roof collapsed.
The Western Cape Local Government says at two people have been injured due to the storm. No fatalities have been reported.
