South Africa's COVID-19 death toll increases to 8 884

Another 345 people have succumbed to the novel coronavirus in South Africa.
The massive figure - includes 89 deaths in KwaZulu-Natal and 97 from the Western Cape - pushing the total number of fatalities to 8 884.
Four thousand four hundred and fifty-six new infections have been recorded in the last 24-hours, taking the number of confirmed cases to 521 318.

With 363 751 recoveries to date, it means that the country has over 157 000 active cases at the moment.
Nineteen thousand five hundred and seven tests have been conducted in a single day.
KZN’s confirmed 85 986 infections, 976 deaths and 44 664 recoveries.
