While the COVID-19 pandemic will likely be in the top spot in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech tonight, some East Coasters also want to hear about jobs, the education and healthcare systems and social grants, among other pressing issues.

"It would be nice to know about our government increases,  I know most members of the public will probably think government workers are not good enough. Most of us are committed to our jobs. most of us are educated people," says one man.

This man says the education system of the last 26 years has let down South Africa. "People need skills and capacity building to do things and to start their own business."

"A woman says she will ask Ramaphosa about what he is doing about all the people who have lost their jobs and now sitting without food on their tables and are unable to provide for their families. R350 isn't much, what are people supposed to do with that?"

Social grants, our healthcare system and vaccine procurement are some of the topics East Coasters are hoping to hear the President touch on tonight.

This woman says the pensioners are suffering, " We pay enough taxes, he needs to do something about that and child-headed homes. Child grants are not enough, there are so many out there seeing to their siblings."

I would like the president to address the nation about the R120 million that he wasted on vaccines which expired. And for him not to take away alcohol sales again," says another.
