They have described the past week as an emotional rollercoaster.

Dwarika's children, who are living in other parts of the country, rushed home to Verulam to join the search for their father, who went missing from Durban's Sea Cow Lake area over a week ago.

Family spokesperson Prasheen Rajbansi says they were praying for his safe return, but were shattered when police discovered his remains in Inanda over the weekend.

CCTV footage showed the electrical engineering lecturer being forced into a vehicle by three men.

"The family is really angry at the moment and distraught. We want justice to be done to the full might of the law and we really hope that this does not happen to anyone else's family and for these guys to be locked up for a very long so that it does not happen again."

Two men arrested in connection with the 61-year-old's kidnapping and murder have been remanded in custody with their bail application set down for next week.

Rajbansi says Dwarika, who was a grandfather, was a sweet and kind man both at home and at work.

"To his students, he was their hero, to his wife he was a loving husband, he was always here and fun-loving and to everybody, he was the life of the party. He loved to entertain, he loved music, he played music and sang.

"His grandchildren were his life so when there was any chance he got to spend time with them he played with them, he spent lots of time just spoiling them."

Dwarika will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
