Shoprite Group secures 200 arrests over past year

giant Shoprite believes beefing up in-house security has paid off, as some 200
suspects were arrested at its stores over the past year.

The company says thanks to the police and its security technology, they've secured 303 years of jail time for crimes including armed robbery, theft, arson, assault and fraud.

Shoprite's security head Oswald Meiring says the data they collected between July last year and May 2021 proved crucial in court.
"The efforts of our world-class team of experienced investigators, analysts and lawyers resulted in a 16 percent year-on-year decline in violent and serious crimes in our Checkers, Shoprite, and YouSave Supermarkets."
