Seven pupils injured in taxi crash in PMB CBD
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Eight people, including several children, have been injured in a crash between a taxi and a bakkie at the Boshoff and Pietermaritz Street intersection, in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.
It's not clear what caused the two vehicles to collide this morning but it's believed one of them failed to come to a stop at a crossing.
When ER24 emergency services arrived at the scene, they found that the bakkie had been transporting school children.
The service's Russel Meiring says paramedics immediately assessed all the patients on scene.
"We discovered that seven children aged between seven and fifteen had sustained minor to moderate injuries. The male passenger of the bakkie also sustained minor injuries. The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Northdale Hospital for further treatment," he said.
