Sentencing gets underway in south coast murders case

Sentencing proceedings in the horrific murder of four children on the south coast are due to begin this morning.
Their uncle - Ben Mbhele - pleaded guilty to stabbing his two nieces and two nephews to death last year.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala, says the bodies of 12-year-old Bandile Mbhele, 10-year-old Lwandile and Sphindile and Lwandle aged 7 and 4 - were found in their home.
"Four children were brutally killed in the Ncukeni area, Port Edward. The accused will appear again today in the Pietermaritzburgh High Court for sentencing," Mbhele said.

Meanwhile, another man remains in custody for allegedly helping the uncle carry out the crimes.
