Forty-seven year-old Vusumuzi Ntombela who was also the municipal speaker in the area was shot dead in front of his class at Luvisi Primary School.

Two of his pupils were caught in the crossfire. One of them, 14-year-old Elizabeth Nhleko, died later in hospital.

Dozens of schools principals today gathered at the Jewish Hall in Durban to discuss the violence that has gripped KZN schools.

The provincial secretary of teachers' union Sadtu, Bheki Shandu says there's a high prevalence.
