Security guard hurt in KwaMashu cash-in-transit robbery

police are searching for a group of robbers who targeted a cash-in-transit
guard in KwaMashu, north of Durban.
A guard was shot and wounded at Thembalihle Railway Station on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Brenda Muridili says the guard was returning to the cash van when he was ambushed by the armed suspects.
"The guard was approached by an unknown number of suspects. The suspects made away with the cash and the guard's firearm."
“They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police have opened a case of armed robbery. We are appealing with anyone with any information, to kindly contact the SAPS crime stop number 08600 1011,” she said.
Netcare 911 paramedics treated the injured guard. Spokesperson, Shawn Herbst says the guard suffered serious injuries.
"The guard - an adult male, in his thirties - was shot twice, once in the right leg and once in the torso. The patient was treated on scene by an advanced life support paramedic to stabilise him. Once treated, the patient was transported to hospital for further treatment," she said.
