Search underway for missing KZN aircraft
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
On Monday,
KwaZulu-Natal Transport officials joined the search for an aircraft that had
gone missing.

Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre teams have been scanning the air and ground since Sunday, when they lost contact with the light aircraft carrying three people, including a female pilot.
It is reported it departed from Virginia Airport at around 3 pm on Sunday, but did not reach its alternate destination.
The aircraft was last tracked flying over Ladysmith, heading south towards Pietermaritzburg or Greytown.
KZN Transport's Ndabezinhle Sibiya said worrying weather patterns have promted an immediate call for action.

"Head of the Department Siboniso Mbhele is ensuring the coordination of KZN Transport Forums in uMgungundlovu and uThukela districts," said Sibiya.
Activation of structures and leaders of communities is to be part of the search and rescue team in the primary area identified by ARCC.
"Ayanda Msweli, the country’s leading traffic anchor, is in touch with the family of the female pilot who was in the aircraft," he added.
