The Park's William Mabasa says  they have captured 4 of the 5 lions.

One is still roaming around the area of Komatipoort in Mpumalanga.

"The bushes are thick and it was very difficult capturing the lions. Before we could catch the last lion it became dark and we had to suspend the search," he said.

Mabasa says the search resumed this morning with another helicopter that was called in to search the area around the sugar-cane town.

"People on the ground, including rangers, members of the South African Police as well as officials from the tourism agency will continue the search," he says.

He says the lion would have moved from the capture area overnight adding that lions were likely kicked out of their pride and thus went in search of another to join.

"We are not exactly sure what the reasons are for the lions to move out of the park like they did," he says.
