Search for man (74) who was swept away while fishing in Durban

A search for an elderly man lost at sea will resume on Tuesday morning.

It was reported on Monday evening that the 74-year-old was swept away at Cuttings Beach, south of Durban.
Paul Herbst from Medi Response says the man experienced some difficulty while he was fishing.

"On arrival of crews, it was reported that a 74-year old male had been fishing when he attempted to cross the canal and was swept away, out to sea.
"Witnesses report that they saw the man drown before disappearing from site.
"Searches were undertaken with negative results and have been suspended due to lack of light. Searches will resume at first light."
