The agency says more than 3 000 people have come forward claiming hundreds of rands are disappearing from their monthly payments.

KZN spokesperson, Mbizeni Mdlalose is urging beneficiaries to be vigilant when applying for loans or using their SASSA cards when trying to buy electricity due a number of scams.

Mdlalose says those who have been affected must lay a complaint at their nearest SASSA office.

"We have invited people that are having a challenge with the deductions that they don't know to come to the nearest SASSA offices to report those deductions. We also call upon those who have insurance policies that are directly deducted from their accounts to come to the SASSA offices so that we can verify and confirm whether they know those policies," he says.
