SA’s sees record third wave Covid-19 infections

Three hundred and eighty-two more people, who contracted Covid-19 in the country, have died.
As the country’s pandemic death toll climbed to more than 61 000, the number of cases confirmed since last year has edged closer to two million.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says labs countrywide have picked up over 21 500 new infections in the last 24-hour cycle, which represents a 28.4% positivity rate.
It's the first time daily cases peaked to that level since January.

A total of 12 800 people tested positive for the virus in Gauteng. In KwaZulu-Natal, the figure's 1 200.
Meanwhile, 3.1 million people have received their Covid-19 vaccines so far.
Registrations have opened to people aged 50 and over for the jab - you can submit your details via the Health Department's EVD system online.
