SA’s COVID-19 recovery rate standing firm at 95 % as the country waits for more vaccines

South Africa’s COVID-19 recoveries stand at 1 458 001 - representing a recovery rate of 95%.

The recovery rate remains stable as the country awaits the delivery of more coronavirus vaccines.

 

According to the reports, more batches of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines are due to arrive in the country from today.

 

That while the SA Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has also confirmed the approval of an emergency Section 21 application of the Pfizer vaccine.

 

When it comes to the daily cases, 933 new infections were recorded by Tuesday evening, bringing the total Covid-19 cases to 1 530 966.

 

Further, 139 people have died of Covid-19 related complications.

 

“Regrettably, we report a further 139 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 2, Free State 13, Gauteng 29, Kwa-Zulu Natal 20, Limpopo 57, Mpumalanga 6, North West 0, Northern Cape 3 and Western Cape 9.We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” reads the latest report by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

 

This brings the total deaths to 51 560.

 

So far, over 9 490 435 tests have been conducted, with 24 920 tests completed since the last report.

 

Mkhize says the number of health care workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol stands at 157 286.
