SARS urges taxpayers to settle matters early
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
More than one million tax returns have been submitted since the tax season opened this month.

SARS spokesperson Sandile Memela says over 60% of the number have made use of the e-filing service while the rest visited SARS branches.
Memela says more than 90% of taxpayers are tax compliant.
"It's always important not to hide any money that you earn because as Sars we are in a position to find it. Again, it's against the law to inflate the money that you earn or owed and we encourage all taxpayers to settle their matters long before the deadline so that if there any fees that are outstanding - we can address them in good time," he said.
The deadline for non-provisional submissions is the 25 November while provisional tax returns should be in on the January 31 at the latest.
