KZN taxi council SANTACO says they are hoping the arrest of an alleged hitman linked to multiple taxi murders in Mandeni on the KZN north coast will help bring calm to the region.

The 37-year-old was arrested in Sundumubili on Sunday, moments before he was meant to get married.
He was remanded in custody after appearing in court on Tuesday.

SANTACO KZN's spokesperson, Sifiso Shangase says the arrest is "good news" for the taxi industry
"This, on its own, gives us hope as operators because we had lost in our governement. We had thought that they had just left us to kill each other in the minibus taxi industry."
"This gives us hope for 2020 that if others are caught the killings of taxi drivers in the province is definitely going to be reduced."
