SANDF deployed at strike-hit hospitals
Updated | By Newswatch
The South African National Defence Force has deployed its military healthcare service to assist hospitals affected by strikes.
Hospitals across the country have been crippled by striking health care workers who are demanding a 10% wage increase.
They've rejected the government's 4.7% offer.
The strike began last Monday.

It has been marred by intimidation and violence, with operations at some facilities disrupted as non-strikers are being blocked to enter.
The Health Department says it enlisted the help of SANDF to ease the pressure on strained hospitals.
In a statement the SANDF says its practitioners will remain deployed for as long as required as part of the National Disaster Management.
The Labour Appeals Court has since interdicted the strike by Nehawu, ordering workers to report for duty.
