Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The South African Municipal Workers Union is threatening
protest action against the uMhlathuze Municipality over several grievances,
including pay.

The group's Sithembiso Dlamini claims the municipality's stalling on overtime payments owed to workers last month.
He says since 2019, workers have been raising concerns over occupational safety standards and a lack of protective gear.
" The municipality they are not paying workers accordingly. As from last year, November, the electrical department has had a similar problem, no consequences for the officials who are responsible for doing it. While workers formed their duties diligently."
