SA needs to use Covid lessons in battle against cholera – Karim

The epidemiologist who advised the government on its response to the Covid-19 pandemic says we need to learn from previous health emergencies to prevent the cholera outbreak from going a similar route.
"Even though it is in many countries, this morning, there were 43 deaths. We have to take the lessons we have learned and be prepared to tackle the next set of pandemics,” says Professor Salim Abdool Karim.

Karim on Monday launched his biography at the Inkosi Albert International Convention Centre in Durban.
It's titled 'Standing up for Science - A Voice of Reason’.
The book launch was attended by scientists and deputy health minister Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, among other guests.
