Rodgers ‘concerned’ at school nutrition tender rigging claims
Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
KwaZulu-Natal Finance MEC Francois Rodgers says he is concerned about reports of allegations of tender fraud in the National School Nutrition Programme.

Service providers from the NSNP Association this week said they'll be lodging a complaint with KZN Treasury over alleged political interference in the education department's current tender process.
There've been claims of rigging, with the association saying it's received a list of service providers allegedly pre-selected.
In a statement, MEC Rodgers says he hasn't received any formal complaints.
He says measures are in place to combat fraud and corruption in the province's supply chain management.
A new digital procurement system is being piloted, and its full implementation is expected to take place from January 2026 until April 2027.
"It is my responsibility as KZN Finance MEC to ensure fiscal discipline. Allegations of tender fraud deeply concern. His office remains open to anyone with evidence so that this matter may be probed further," said the MEC’s spokesperson, Nkosikhona Duma.
KZN Education says those with concerns should raise them through the relevant platforms.
