Police have confirmed that robbers have targeted a cellphone store in La Lucia Mall, north of Durban.
Officers are on the scene are gathering information to establish exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, the police's Thulani Zwane says they are following up on several leads in their investigations into whether mall robbers in KZN are operating under a syndicate.
"We are very much concerned about these roberries that are taking place in the province. We are working hard to check whether these suspects who were arresed are not linked to any other roberries that were taking place in these malls.
The five suspects who appeared in court on Monday were arrested in connection with a robbery in Bellair. The men are accused of trying to to steal thousands of rands worth of jewellery.
While at least six suspects held up security guards and tried to break into two stores at Durban's Overport City.
The police's Thulani Zwane says they got away with a number of goods.
"The suspects allegedly broke into two business premises in that area and they tried to take things but they could not find anything. Cell phones and other things were locked away - the suspects fled scene and there are no arrests made at this stage, we are still investigating the matter," he said.
