Road closure alert for Pinetown motorists
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Motorists who use Josiah Gumede Avenue in Pinetown are advised to consider alternative routes from tomorrow, because of roadworks in the area.
As part of Go!Durban's new integrated rapid public transport network, there will be construction of the intersection on Josiah Gumede at School and Meller Roads.
EThekwini Road System Management says traffic will be diverted to other routes during this time.
The project's Carlos Esteves says there will be no access into Josiah Gumede from School Road.
"There will be restricted access to through that intersection. We'd recommend that motorists detour either via Bamboo Lane or into Beviss Road, through to Crompton Street during this construction period," he said.
Motorists are also advised to plan for longer commutes due to delays.
The construction work is expected to last until the end of this week.
The Go! Durban route is being developed from Bridge City in KwaMashu to Pinetown CBD.
Esteves says more than 50% of the work has been completed.
