RFA concerned over Zimbabwean exemption permits
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The Road Freight Association says it's worried government's extension of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits will lead to violence and disruptions in the road freight sector.
Zimbabweans in South Africa with this type of permit will be able to stay in the country until the end of the year.
They were due to expire at the end of this month.
The Department of Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says the six-month extension is to allow the department to process increased applications for waivers.

Road Freight Association CEO Gavin Kelly believes it will add to the frustration of South Africans who're struggling to find work.
"One of the sectors where this intense frustration of not being employed has found expression in the road freight sector. The scene of violence and truck burnings where individuals have been severely injured, burnt and even killed cannot be allowed to continue.
"The association reiterates its call to the Department of Labour to set up inspections with all employers, not just in the road freight sector in terms of dealing with illegally employed foreign nationals and to take South African employers to task in terms of this."
